Build your own Sail Pack or Stack Pack for your Sailboat using these instructions. This is a downloadable version in PDF Format of Sailrite's instructions for building a sail pack. 19 pages.
Build your own sail pack to store your mainsail, it virtually puts itself away. The Sailrite sail pack kit has a zipper closure running along the top length. When your ready to sail just unzip the cover and raise the sail. When you are finished sailing just lower the sail and zip up the sail pack cover. The sail pack can be removed easily because it attaches under foot of the sail (if using slugs) via a 2" webbing strap with a common sense fasteners installed. If your sail does not include slugs on the foot then this webbing strap will run through the sail's foot tape via a slit which must be installed in the sail via a hot knife or wood burring tool.
The sail pack includes a forward mast cover which can be left in place while sailing or unzipped completely off via two finished zippers running along the sides of the mast cover. The Sailrite sail pack features sleeves running on the top of the cover for the insertion of schedule 40 PVC 3/4" pipes. This sleeve system accompanied by the pipe will provide a ridged support for your sail pack.
A lazy jack system must be used to support the top of your sail pack. The lazy jack lines will attach to webbing loops installed along the top of your sail pack cover. The lazy jack can be tied off at these loops or the lines can run through the loops and alongside the cover. If your boat does not have a lazy jack system the written instructions will explain how you can make your own lazy jack support system for your sail pack.
