Furling & Reefing |
 |
|
| | This category includes furling and reefing systems plus the support hardware and kits to make sailing more enjoyable. Furling systems are wonderful for short handed sailing. They make it quick and easy to douse a sail. Some systems allow for sail shortening as well --- called reefing. Sailrite sells Cruising Design and Harken systems. |

| Cruising Design (CDI) Furling Systems |
| The Cruising Design (CDI) furler provides one of the most inexpensive, effective ways to get more use from your boat while increasing safety. From your cockpit in a matter of minutes you can furl or reef your jib, genoa or staysail with ease—a great boon for small boat owners since the smaller the boat, the more difficult the foredeck work. | |

| Luff Tape Conversion |
Modern reefing / furling units make use of a continues support tape along the leading edge of the sail that slides into a groove in the furler. Any wire or rope, and all snaps and grommets must be cut away to install the continues support tape. These kits and instructions allow you to convert your sail to roller furling.

| Sleeve Furling Cover Kits |
| Protect a furled headsail from the elements with these straight forward kits. Sails without a sacrificial cover get better performance, but they must be protected from the UV & elements. Build your own sleeve furling cover kit and get the best of both worlds. | |

| Suncover Kits |
The best fabrics for sacrificial use are Sunbrella® and 4oz Insignia UV Dacron®. The Dacron® is much lighter than the Sunbrella® so it is a good choice for boats under 30 feet or so, but Sunbrella® has unparalleled durability in sunlight which makes it the most common choice. | |
