Polyester thread is the workhorse thread in the sailmaking and canvas industry. It is inexpensive and nevertheless extremely durable in an outdoor environmnent. Use it for sewing canvas, sails, and much more. Sailrite sells thread weights: V-30 (lightest), V-46, V-69, V-92 and V-138 (heaviest).
Bonded Ultra Dee polyester thread has set the industry standard in sailmaking and canvas sewing threads. V-30 our lightest weight thread should be used with a No. 12 or 14 needle and fabric of less than 1-1/2 ounces.
Bonded Dabond (polyester) thread has set the industry standard in sailmaking and canvas sewing threads. V-46, for fabric less than three ounces with No. 14 or 16 needle.
