| Long Arm ZigZag Sewing Machines |
| Sewing machines which produce zigzag stitches and have a "Long Arm" are relatively rare. These machines are desirable for sailmakers building large yacht sails. Arm length is the horizontal space between the needle and the vertical upright of the sewing machine casting. The longer the arm, the more space there is for the rolled sail or canvas section which is to the right of the needle while sewing. Sailrite's long arm machines are 20.5" compared to roughly 7" to 10" standard arm machines. Machines of this type can sew both zigzag and straight stitches. Some even produce 4-point stitches (sometimes called 3 step). | |

| Straight Stitch Sewing Machine |
This drop feed straight stitch sewing machine is similar to a home sewing machine in size but with all metal internal parts. Drop feed means there is a feed dog beneath the fabric and a simple sled type presser foot. Reliable and very easy to use but not nearly as powerful as Sailrite's Ultrafeed machines. | |
