Strataglass – has a polymer coating that seals the plasticizers. Expect a longer life.
Crystal Clear – similar to Strataglass except has no special polymer coating. Expect an average life.
Kal Glass – similar to Crystal Clear except for smaller sheet size.
Plastipane – this is a rolled good, expect less optically clear and inexpensive vinyl window
Monofilm – Mylar film extremely stable and light used for windsurfer sail windows.
Crystal Clear is a sheet good vinyl window material. Sheet goods are carefully polished to increase consistency and clarity. Crystal Clear is similar to Strataglass except that it does not have the special polymer coating on it to prevent the plasticizers for escaping.
This clear vinyl window material called Kal Glas 40 gauge, makes excellent windows in any fabric panel— dodgers, awnings, enclosures and more. It can be sewn just like cloth.
A light weight performance material for boardsails and telltale windows. This see-through polyester film does not have any threads running through it; so, tear strength is not good but it does have great stretch resistance. Sold per Yard.
This reinforced X-ply monofilm (a clear polyester film with a black thread running through it) is another choice for windows in sails. It can also be used for windsurfer sails. It is very light in weight 4.2oz, yet quite stable and durable. Sold per Yard.
12 gauge Plastipane, a clear vinyl material, makes excellent window and pattern material. Use it for window side panels to enclose tents or boat enclosures, where minimizing panel weight is more important than optical clarity and durability. This light weight clear vinyl is also ideal for creating dinghy chap patterns. It is heavy enough that it will hug the inflatable tubes for easy pattern markings without shifting.
