“One-Way” Snap Fasteners |
|
|
|
| |
One Way snap fasteners can be extremely useful along the leading edge of dodgers and anywhere
else there is a tendency to stress the closure by “pealing” it. They are very hard to unfasten in three directions.
This is accomplished by exaggerating the lip on the female part (the “socket”) at one point on its
circumference—this lip actually replaces the normal bronze spring for about 1/16-inch. The snap will
separate only with great difficulty when pulled apart on all sides except the side opposite of the exaggerated
lip.
INSTALLATION
These snaps can be installed with the simple inexpensive snap fastener tool (part #25204). The
Pres-N-Snap tool can be used to install these snaps but it requires a special socket die. Note: the 10 inch
Straight Jaw Plier does not have a proper socket die available to do this work.
The stud is screwed or riveted in place in the normal manner — there is no need to orient this part in
any particular direction. But the socket must be installed so the protrusion is on the side to be released
easily. This protrusion will also prevent the snap from turning after installation.
The snaps should be closed by starting on the lip side and closing the protrusion side last. Opening
is just the opposite pull from the protrusion side. |
