This mesh fabric is recommended for breathable outdoor cushion covers (cover the entire cushion or use on the bottom so water can escape), umbrellas, sheet bags, heat filtering awnings and window shades for pilot houses & RVs. Provides a 70% shade factor.
Phifertex is easy to work with and sew. To create snap on window covers for boats and RVs, cut the fabric so that it is an inch or so bigger than the window all round. Finish the raw edges with binding tape or simply fold over 1/2-inch hems and sew with V-69 or V-92 thread. Install snap fasterers at each corner and at intervals as required along the length of each side (usually it is enough to have fasterners every three feet or so).
For window shades use a T-square to cut straight sides, create a hem at the bottom for a wood or fiberglass batten and use adhesive tape to attach the fabric to a roller shade.
Cleaning Instructions:
Prepare cleaning solution using 1 tbsp. liquid dish detergent and 2 tbsp. household bleach in one gallon of water. Clean fabric with sponge or soft cloth dipped in solution. Rinse thoroughly with clear water and air dry. Avoid direct contact with oil-based products, which may cause accelerated aging of fabric. If direct contact occurs, clean promptly. Regular maintenance of your Phifertex fabric will ensure an extended life of the fabric. We recommend cleaning the fabric once or twice yearly for moderate use, more for heavy-use applications.

Phifertex Mesh Sand X00 54" is a railroaded pattern |
Reduce Seaming with Railroaded Fabric
Most upholstery fabric is 54 inches wide and, if it features a pattern, the pattern is run down the length of the bolt. When upholstering, it generally looks best to run a patterned fabric from the top to the bottom of the piece and from the back to the front. This requires seams every 54 inches on larger pieces like sofas and long boat cushions. Alternatively, a Railroaded fabric pattern can be used to eliminated unwanted seams. The patterns in Railroaded Sunbrellas run across their widths. This makes Railroaded Sunbrella perfect for these longer projects.

In this illustration the fabric rolls out vertically, and for this type of single cushion, would require several seams to cover the couch.
