Canvas Projects

Hi Matt...
We've been having fun working as a team on some big projects...

We've completed part of the Cariad Project... The Awnings for her...
www.cariad1896.com

we promised to send you some photos on completion! Here they are.
After a two and a half year restoration/rebuild, Cariad arrived in Malaysia, the top masts, booms and bow sprite went up...
... then they wanted the Awnings yesterday! Same old story.
We both want to Thank You and all the Team at Sailrite for your Fantastic support and service...
We think you should win the 'outstanding universal business of the year' award! Great Job!!!

Hi Guys,
Let me start of by telling you that when I saw the fabric I was Amazed on the vibrant color and couldn't wait to start cutting and making the cushions for my patio chairs and love seat.
Once I start assembling the fabric to the new sponge I ordered I was so happy and can't believe my eyes on how beautiful and the colors and design make the furniture look.
I am very happy of the turn out and my friends are just blown away of the new look in the backyard, the blue striped flows fantastic with the in-ground pool and everything is in harmony.
Now every morning I can sit back and enjoy a nice coffee and read the paper and feel conformable.
Thanks a million and keep up the good work!!

Mike Abatzidis.

Dear Sailrite,
I just wanted to share with you the results of my dodger, which was built after watching your most excellent "How to" video on Dodger Construction. It was my first big project and the results exceeded my expectations. Thanks again. Love the website too.

Here you are. These are all the original size – I’ll let you pick and choose as to what you want to use. This boat is now on the market – if you know anyone who would like a great 2006 Mainship 34 Sedan, please let me know.
We want to get a Mainship 34 trawler (with fly bridge) and will again make Pfifertex sunscreen coverings for the entire boat. When I do them next time, I won’t have the wrinkles that I do on this boat... I’ve learned a lot about handling the Pfifertex and also figured out a number of design improvements to make the fit better. I’ll also do mosquito screens and perhaps more clear enclosure around the aft cockpit...
Hopefully when we get our “new to us” trawler, we can work with you to document this next project... I would think that a lot of boat owners would be interested in how much you can do with Pfifertex to protect a boat from the sun! I’m going to submit some of these photos to the Mainship Discussion Group that we participate in as they’re currently talking about air conditioning issues in saloons and the sunscreen are a simple answer.
On another note, I also made a mainsail cover for my brother’s Gemini 105 sailing catamaran!
We’ve had fun with Sailrite over the years!

Holley Purcell.

Dear Matt,

Attached are a couple pictures for the project we just finished. You and Sailrite were key to us completing this huge project. We ended up ordering over 50 yards of Sunbrella, 6 sheets of Strataglass and a lot of zippers and Surefit bungee ties. Of course we could not have done any of this without the LSZ-1 sewing machine.

Thank you for your support.

All the best,

Dear Sailrite Staff,

I want to share with you the end result of my re-canvassing project aboard my 48' Chris Craft Roamer. The goal was to replace the existing original worn out canvas and faded, cracked, hard-to-see-through plastic windows.

After the local boat canvas "expert" failed to show up to start the re-canvassing project, I decided to do it myself. I found your website by simply surfing the web. Last January, I ordered an LS-1, some material, and got started. Until then, I had never touched a sewing machine, but thankfully, you guys have written and illustrated an excellent operator’s manual and instructional CD. I write technical manuals for a living, so when I say the manual is well written, I mean it.

The first piece I did was the bench cover on the bow. Next, I started with the skirt that encompasses the entire aft deck. The rest of the work was on the plastic window curtains themselves. I was only able to work on this project a few hours a week, but I finally finished in mid-October.

I was surprised at how easy the work actually was. From others in the area who have had comparable work done by a professional, I’m estimating I saved between $5000 to possibly $7000 by doing it myself, and that includes the price of the sewing machine! I’ve had two offers to buy my sewing machine, but I’m keeping it for other projects. I’ve referred them to the Sailrite website.

In closing, I would like to thank you all for processing every order I placed from your website the same day I placed the order. I received every order within 3 or 4 working days.

Thank You Sailrite

I recently purchased a Sailrite LSZ-1 MACHINE and after viewing your CD on making a Dodger completed my first very professional looking dodger. I have attached some photo's for you to see. People at the marina have seen this and have hired me to re-do canvas for them. I want to thank Don and his staff for all their help at the Annapolis boat show. I plan to make the bimini very soon.

If you would like to brag on creative projects that can be accomplished with Sunbrella fabric here is one. The before picture shows the chair lift at our pool with its ugly blue plastic tarp. The second picture is "saguaro cactus" and "boulder" made from Sunbrella. Everything is of Sunbrella, including the little "owl" nesting up in the top part of the cactus as well as the "petro glyphs" on the "boulder".
I told the person on the phone when I ordered my fabric from your company that I would send a picture when the project was complete. She said it might be used on your website. If you should decide to include it on your site, please let me know so I can take a look at it.

Thanks,
Charli Jackson
