Used to secure jibs to the wire forestay. Locks positively over the stay with a sliding piston that closes a hooked end.
In the case of Bronze Sew-On Jib Snaps, installation requires the placement of a pressed spur grommet (usually a #2 or #3 size) just behind the luff reinforcement in the sail.
