When looking to replace the clear window vinyl in your dodger, windshield, sail window or enclosure, it can be difficult choosing the right vinyl for your particular application. Certain projects warrant a specific material thickness, not to mention other qualities such as scratch resistance and optical clarity. Once you understand what type of vinyl you need for your project, it makes the selection process so much easier.

Our Window Material Buying Guide includes all the clear window vinyl brands we sell, along with five key performance criteria you need to consider when choosing a window vinyl: optical clarity, scratch resistance, UV resistance, stain/chemical resistance and hand. The guide also lists the size of each brand’s vinyl window sheet as well as a price rating to help you narrow down how many sheets you’ll need for your project as well as an estimated cost.

The “Recommended Use” column will help you figure out which gauge of vinyl you need based on your DIY. For example, dodgers typically use between 30 and 60-gauge window material. If you want your dodger’s windows or windshield to roll up, you’ll want flexible 30-gauge. 60-gauge window vinyl is semi firm and will not roll up. If you’re adding or replacing windows in your mainsail, you’ll want 20-gauge vinyl. The flexibility and light weight of 20-gauge vinyl is ideal for sail windows. Lastly, we provide recommended needle sizes for each vinyl gauge — one less thing for you to figure out!
