Knotted safety lifeline netting constructed from #36 nylon twine which is much larger than the cheaper lifeline netting found at many other stores.
This lifeline netting is placed around your sailboat or powerboat, this safety netting helps in providing security for family, friends, pets and equipment. Hotknife cut ends. Nylon is forgiving and strong. UV stabilizers keep it from rotting. This lifeline netting really lasts.
  • Holes sizes are 2"
  • Netting is 24" high by 30 foot long
  • Breaking strength per cord is 330 pounds - test

Attaching Netting to Lifelines

Before attaching netting to lifelines first make sure that all lifelines and stanchions are in good condition and tight. The safety netting is only as solid as the structure to which it is attached. Lifeline netting stretches a good amount but it is still typical to order a length that is equal to the uninterrupted bow to stern measurement times two or just enough to surround the cockpit. Use plastic cable ties to attach the netting securely to the stanchions, rails, lifeline or uprights. When using cable ties, inspect and replace them frequently. Or better yet, whip the netting in place with a light 1/8" Dacron braided line. If the boat has a modern toe rail a larger line can be rove through the netting and round and round the toe rail openings for a neat and secure attachment of the net's bottom. Attach the netting at one end of the boat first and then temporarily attach the opposite end. Make the net tight. Next secure the netting at the top and bottom every two feet or so. Having second set of hands to stretch the netting out is very helpful. Finally make all attachment lashings permanent. Enjoy the new safer confines of the boat's topsides.

Lifeline Netting 30 Foot x 24" Wide is a railroaded pattern

Reduce Seaming with Railroaded Fabric

Most upholstery fabric is 54 inches wide and, if it features a pattern, the pattern is run down the length of the bolt. When upholstering, it generally looks best to run a patterned fabric from the top to the bottom of the piece and from the back to the front. This requires seams every 54 inches on larger pieces like sofas and long boat cushions. Alternatively, a Railroaded fabric pattern can be used to eliminated unwanted seams. The patterns in Railroaded Sunbrellas run across their widths. This makes Railroaded Sunbrella perfect for these longer projects.

In this illustration, the fabric rolls out to cover the cushions without need for a seam.

This is a photo example of the railroaded fabric coming off the roll.

This is a photo example of fabric that is not railroaded coming off the roll.

In this illustration the fabric rolls out vertically, and for this type of single cushion, would require several seams to cover the couch.
