Kal Glas

Manufactured by Renolit, Kal-Glas is a unique, see-through vinyl that you can use for a wide variety of window applications. Commonly implemented in marine windows, sail windows, dodgers, enclosures and awnings, this affordable clear vinyl material is engineered specifically for long-term performance. Kal-Glas meets many stringent automotive requirements that demand extreme high and low temperature resistance, so it’s a top-notch choice for auto applications. It’s also preferred for its glass-clear, undistorted view that won’t compromise optics. Sailrite stocks Kal-Glas material for many marine and automotive jobs.

Kal-Glas makes a great alternative to Crystal Clear, primarily if you’re looking for something that’s more affordable that doesn’t require a high level of stain and chemical resistance. Kal-Glas is engineered through an innovative pressing process, which leaves behind a long-lasting, see-through material that won’t shrink or yellow when exposed to sunlight for long periods of time. It’s also completely waterproof, so it will protect you from spray and rain when used on biminis and dodgers. Our customers love Kal-Glas because it’s very easy to handle and sew. In fact, you can sew Kal-Glas just like you would regular fabric — no special tools required. It’s also designed to be easily cut, bonded and welded.

Kal-Glas vinyl window material features a 2-inch by 2-inch DOT certification stamp embossed in the surface. This stamp is required for manufacturers who make glass for automotive purposes and is proof of certification from the Department of Transportation. You can use the fabric portion without the stamp if you’re using this vinyl on boats, since the certification is not required for marine applications. Sailrite® offers 40-gauge Kal-Glas transparent vinyl window material sold in convenient rolls measuring 29 inches wide by 68 inches long. Discount quantity purchasing is available if you need material for large jobs. For more information, read our Window Material Buying Guide.
