Made by Polyfab™ USA, Polytex® is a unique, fire-rated knitted shade fabric that’s engineered specifically for use in shade structures and shade sails. Because it offers maximum protection against the sun’s heat and harmful UV rays, it’s a popular choice for several do-it-yourself shade and awning applications. This best-in-class shade fabric is constructed to shield you from the sun while providing privacy and style. Each Polytex fabric provides UVA and UVB protection of greater than 95% and is completely fire resistant. Sailrite® is happy to supply Polytex fabric by the yard, with a wide variety of color choices available.
Polytex is a 100% polyethylene fabric woven in a lock stitch, so it won’t tear or fray. It offers maximum protection and UV blocking capabilities due to a unique lock stitch method called Raschel Knit, which features knitted monofilament thread blended with tape. The fabric is then heat-set to provide additional stability. Weighing 7 ounces per square yard, this high-performance shade material comes highly recommended for residential and small commercial applications with unsupported spans of 25 feet or less. These quality fabrics are lead- and phthalate-free and offer a high strength-to-weight ratio for exceptional performance.
You can use Polytex for your DIY wire-hung canopy, shade sails and tension shade structures. This high-quality shade fabric is appropriate for both residential and commercial environments, as it meets ASTM and NFPA fire codes. If you’re unsure whether or not this material is appropriate for your particular applications, you can always contact us via phone or email for advice.
