Reviews
Good emergency material when you can't get to a sailmaker.
A couple of ugly tears in load-bearing panels of two of my favorite windfoil sails had me contemplating major surgery. Instead I used this laminate repair tape on both sides, finished off with insignia cloth and so far everything is holding without stitching.
Was great to work with and exactly what we needed. Same type of repair material that the sailmaker used a few years ago and charged us a hugh amount of money for. Will know more when we start sailing this summer. Reviews were good for that.
A scrape against dock poles put a slice in the transparent part of my Tiwal 3 sailboat sail at the beginning of the season. I used this tape to repair the slice. Even though the pattern does not match the sail very well, it isn't all that noticeable. At mid-season, the tape shows no signs of adhesive weakness or creasing, despite folding after every sail.
Very sticky and strong. Should easily outlast my older laminate headsail.
Very Sticky. I used it to paste two panels of laminate sails that came apart. Backed it with a thick Insignia band. So far holding out.
tape works great, but if you leave the sail ( windsurfer) in the water for about 2 hours, the tape will start coming off.
Disappointed
This is a poor product, nowhere near the adhesion of normal dacron sail number/sail repair material. My application was patching a few little holes in a North 3DL jib. It peeled off after a short time while adjacent dacron tape is still going strong.
