Sunbrella’s Icon Collection draws its inspiration from the Sunbrella archives and reflects the style and spirit of the first Sunbrella collection in 1961. This collection of fabrics is a tribute to timeless design and the energy and optimism of the 1960s and 1970s. You’ll see the style and colors of the era in these stripes and textured weaves, all with legendary Sunbrella performance.
Sunbrella Fabric's popularity stems from its fantastic color options, high resistance to fading and long lifespan. Sunbrella is a soft, breathable, solution-dyed acrylic that is UV, water and mildew resistant and does not noticeably shrink or stretch. Sunbrella acrylic upholstery fabrics are also easy to sew, which makes most projects a breeze!
Sunbrella Upholstery Fabrics feature a wide variety of modern, contemporary and traditional patterns that match Sunbrella Marine Grade colors to fully coordinate both inside and outdoors. There is no right or wrong side to this upholstery fabric, meaning either side can be exposed to the outside. The fabric is what I expected from Sumbrella, Just disappointed that it's only available in standard width.
Custom Roman Shades
A customer wanted hobbled Roman shades made from Sunbrella fabric. She picked Frequency Parchment. The shades made up beautifully. The weight of the Sunbrella gave body to the hobbles in front while the grain kept the creases in back sharp. My only frustration was being unable to true up the fabric. The slubs were not always horizontal. Sometimes they went across the fabric in a wave. It was not possible to pull the fabric straight. Because of the horizontal nature of Roman shades the swale was apparent. Roman shades made with Sunbrella fabric are quite handsome. Although I might steer a customer away from a horizontal texture or pattern, the Frequency Parchment is a very nice light neutral that stays bright on the window. It would make gorgeous cushions or slipcovers.
