Looking for the best fabric webbing for sailmaking and other outdoor applications? Look no further. We recommend lightweight heavy-duty webbing, such as Dyneema® webbing or spectra webbing, in situations where high-strength and excellent UV protection is required. Dyneema® and Spectra® are some of the strongest fibers in the world, so they’re well suited for applications where constant weather and wind exposure is expected. These webbings are thin and easy to sew through, making them great for thick head patch and clew assemblies on sails. This industrial webbing can also be used for support straps, sail corners for ring installation, edge reinforcement for structural awnings and more.
We also have polyester, nylon, acrylic and polypropylene webbing that is great for a slew of unique jobs. For example, you can use polyester webbing to make shade sail edging and other shade structures because it’s very resistant to UV damage, rot, mold, mildew and abrasion. It’s also helpful to note that polyester webbing will float. Sunbrella acrylic webbing is resistant to fading and holds up in the sunlight making it a great choice for support straps on biminis and dodgers. Nylon soaks up water, stretches and won’t offer the same level of UV resistance as polyester or acrylic. We recommend using nylon webbing for applications where a soft hand is desired and stretching is not an issue like bag handles. Heavy weight nylon is great for jack lines, safety straps, tethers and anywhere you want more strength.
