Can I see shipping charges on this website?
Yes, you can easily get shipping estimates for the contents of your cart at any time. Just click on the “Estimate Shipping” link. At the end of the order process you can fine tune the shipping by selecting from numerous methods.
What shipping methods are available? We offer UPS and US Postal Service. UPS tends to be more reliable for all shipments and is less expensive for larger, heavy orders. If we have your email on file you will receive a tracking number when the order ships. UPS scans packages in each hub along the route until it is delivered. Post Office only scans when the package is received and when the package is delivered. In the event that a Post Office package is lost a claim can not be made until 30 days has passed (per Post Office guidelines). We can file a claim with UPS immediately.
Sailrite has negotiated for a large discount on shipping rates for orders going outside of the United States. We have decided to pass this discount on to our customers in order to encourage international ordering. If you compare the shipping price from our website (UPS Express, UPS Expedited and UPS Saver) to UPS published rates you will find our rate to be less expensive. Also please keep in mind that brokerage fees are included in the shipping charges when using the above mentioned services. Duties and taxes may be incurred depending upon the country of destination and the items ordered, these charges are your responsibility.
UPS offers several shipping methods. You may select ground delivery which may take up to seven days to some parts of the United States or much faster air shipments which can take as little as one day. Just keep in mind that the quicker delivery methods always cost more. For Foreign shipments UPS generally takes about 3 to 5 days.
How do I count days to estimate when my order will arrive?
Business days are defined as Monday through Friday and DO NOT include holidays. Air services like UPS 2nd day or Next day shipping count business days only. So if you place an order on Thursday before noon EST (our cutoff shipping time for expedited shipments) and choose 2nd day air that order will not arrive until Monday. Can I ship to a PO box?
Shipments can be sent to valid PO boxes. In these cases a Sailrite customer service representative must change the shipping method to Post Office. UPS will not deliver to PO boxes.
Can I ship to an APO/FPO? Yes, but the United States Post Office must be used for delivery. UPS will not ship to an APO or FPO address.
We will contact you with a revised shipping amount. I have my own shipping account number, can I use it? No, we do not offer third party billing.
When will my order ship? Orders are typically shipped within 1 to 3 days of receipt excluding weekends and holidays. Some items are in high demand during certain seasons. Sail kits and finished items will require additional time to prepare as special order fabrics may need to be procured and the project will need to be custom designed or finished. We will make every effort to keep you informed about orders which may take a little longer than normal to ship. All orders are fulfilled and shipped between Monday and Friday excluding US holidays. For air shipments the order cutoff time is noon (EST) for guaranteed departure that day.
What is your Backorder Policy? If an item is backordered for less than five days we will hold the entire order to ship it complete. If the backorder is expected to take longer we will ship what items are in stock and the backorder(s) when it arrives (you will not be charged any additional delivery if a backorder must be sent separately). For foreign shipments we will hold an order for up to a week in order to ship everything complete. Should an item on the order take longer than a week for us to receive we will notify you. We can either continue to hold the order until the backordered item(s) arrive or we can delete the item(s) from the order. In some cases we may also make substitute product suggestions. What if my shipment is damaged? If damage due to shipping has occurred, contact the carrier directly or call us within 7 days. Save all packaging. The carrier will want to see it. If you discard the packaging a claim cannot be made. Be prepared to describe the damage in detail. Inspect the shipping carton for holes or crushed corners. Emailing digital photos is always appreciated and will help us to expedite the claim on your behalf. Damaged items will be replaced immediately. We insure shipments against damage. If we can not provide insurance for a shipment method we will notify you. Can I track my order? Only packages shipped by UPS are trackable. For these orders, if you have provided a valid email address at the time you placed the order you will receive a shipping confirmation with a tracking number. Visit www.ups.com to enter the tracking number and check the progress of your shipment. If you do not receive a confirmation that means either the order has not shipped yet or the email address we have on file is wrong or the email is being blocked by your computer. What if there is a delivery attempt notice on my door? UPS drivers have discretion to decide if it is safe to leave a package at its destination without a delivery signature. If a notice has been left it will tell you when they will attempt delivery again or you can call the local UPS hub to arrange picking up the parcel at the hub. If multiple attempts are made to delivery the package(s) without success, the order will be returned to our warehouse. You will be notified of the delivery failure so we can determine a course of action to get your order delivered. Should we need to send the parcel again you will be responsible for the second shipping charges. If you do not want the order or have refused the delivery, we will credit the price of the items ordered (less applicable restocking fees) but not the shipping/handling charges. These shipping and handling fees will also include the cost to have the package returned to us if it is refused. Can you put delivery instructions on the package? We will try to accommodate requests to write things like “Leave on porch” but can not guarantee that these notes will be made. In most cases the carriers will ignore these requests anyway. If you are adamant that the parcel be delivered in a certain way or place we suggest that you post a large note on your door around the time of delivery instructing the carrier of your desires. What if tracking says my order was delivered but I did not get it? Call us or the carrier to request a driver follow-up. Before doing this it is often helpful to check with your neighbors to see if they may have signed for the parcel in your absence. UPS will be able to report the name of the person signing for the package, if any. It is also wise to look around the outside of your home or business as UPS sometimes hides the package(s) in what they deem to be a secure location. Lost parcels can take some time to find. We will do everything possible to expedite the process on your behalf. Once the carrier assumes responsibility for the loss we will reship the order. Loss claims for UPS are quite fast. Claims for postal service are very slow and could take as long as 6 weeks.
Oops, I gave the wrong shipping address when I placed my order! Be very careful entering shipping addresses. Once the package is gone there is very little we can do to redirect the package. Small mistakes will usually not cause any delivery delays. Bad addresses or wrong addresses may cause long delays. Worst case the package will be returned to us. When this happens we can resend the package to a new address but you will be responsible for the new shipping charges as well as the original charges. I want to cancel my order and it already shipped – what do I do? Once shipped an order has already incurred shipping fees. You may return the order but the shipping charges will not be credited. If you refuse the shipment the carrier will charge return shipping as well and these charges will not be credited either. Sometimes we offer free shipping. If you refuse or return an order which shipped free you will be credited for everything but the actual shipping charges incurred. Can I have you send the order C.O.D? Sorry we do not ship cash on delivery.
Are there restrictions on shipping of Flammable items?
Flammable items cannot ship to APO's or foreign
countries. Nor can they be shipped by air services like Second and Next Day Air. Is there a minimum shipping charge?
Yes, we charge a minimum of $6.99 for shipping. Can really long items be shipped? (Delivery Surcharge)
Some items may require a delivery surcharge (they will be tagged with an icon showing a box in a circle). This fee is in addition to the normal shipping rate selected. This charge is not calculated by this website, it will be added during the shipping stage. For items over 72" add $10 |
