This heavy duty slotted nylon batten pocket end protector allows sail slides to be webbed directly onto the protector. Thus, it creates less friction against the mast even when the batten is cocked. A set includes 2 halves and 6 phillips head screws. The webbing hole width is one inch. Fits 1 5/8" flat battens.
Battens are a constant source of wear in all sails. But fully-battened sails constitute a special problem since their battens are tied in under pressure to help give the sail draft. The result is that the battens tend to poke their way through the sail at its luff unless special protectors are installed.
