Dura Skrim is a great pattern material. It is stretch resistant, translucent, tear resistant and strong. Using a helper Dura Skrim can be floated over a frame for a bimini, dodger or any enclosure. The use of a double sided tape (seamstik) is useful as a method to temporarily stick the pattern in place so that a tight and wrinkle free pattern can be traced. And, since you can see through the Dura Skrim 2, it is easy to mark on it right where you want seaming and cutting lines. Remove the pattern and transfer it to your actual canvas. You’ll be amazed at how easy it is to pattern with this product!
Dura Skrim patterning material will not stretch like most others do. It can be pulled tight without worrying about it stretching out of shape.
Dura Skrim is a clear, reinforced plastic sheeting manufactured by weaving high density polyethylene ribbons and coating them with a low density polyethylene. This special weaving process produces a highly tear-resistant film which allows the ribbons to shift and “bunch up” in response to a tearing force.

To aid in patterning, Sailrite recommends using painter’s tape (blue tape found at hardware stores) and seamstick to hold the pattern material in place on hard objects like tubing and fiberglass. By using the painters tape and then applying seamstick (double sided tape) to the top of the painter’s tape you can keep the seamstick glue from leaving a sticky residue on the attachment surface when it’s time to remove the seamstik.
