Plastipane, a clear vinyl material, makes excellent windows in any fabric panel--sails, dodgers, awnings, tents. It can be sewn just like cloth and rolls up easily. The .020 is excellent quality glass-clear roll goods. Installation is made easier if Seamstik (double-sided tape) is used to adhere the window material to the fabric before sewing and cutting. After the material is sewn in place, use scissors to trim away the fabric and expose the window.

The key to keeping vinyl looking and performing like new is maintaining the integrity of the topcoat and protecting against UV damage. Vinyls contain plasticizers, chemicals that make them soft and pliable, that over time work their way to the surface and evaporate, wash away, or rub off. The top coat (PVF or PVDF) is applied to block plasticizers from migrating out of the material.
These top coats greatly increase the life of vinyl windows, especially those left up permanently. Its effectiveness is reduced on applications that are taken on and off or folded regularly. Strataglass has a special polymer coating that is more scratch resistant and less susceptible to damage caused by folding.
To prolong the life of Plastipane it is recommended that 303 Aerospace Protectant be used on a regular basis. 303 Protectant helps restore plasticizer protection and adds UV protection to the Plastipane vinyl window material.
