When a tighter weave in a vinyl encapsulated polyester yarn is desired select Phifertex Plus. Use for cushion covers and sheet bags that allow moisture to escape and for breathable, heat filtering awnings and umbrellas (provides 90+ % shade factor). Use for window coverings -- Phifertex Plus provides excellent privacy while maintaining good interior light and it adds protection for the window itself.
Phifertex is easy to work with and sew. To create snap on window covers for boats and RVs, cut the fabric so that it is an inch or so bigger than the window all round. Finish the raw edges with binding tape or simply fold over 1/2-inch hems and sew with V-69 or V-92 thread. Install snap fasterers at each corner and at intervals as required along the length of each side (usually it is enough to have fasterners every three feet or so).
For window shades use a T-square to cut straight sides, create a hem at the bottom for a wood or fiberglass batten and use adhesive tape to attach the fabric to a roller shade.
Cleaning Instructions:
Prepare cleaning solution using 1 tbsp. liquid dish detergent and 2 tbsp. household bleach in one gallon of water. Clean fabric with sponge or soft cloth dipped in solution.Rinse thoroughly with clear water and air dry.Avoid direct contact with oil-based products, which may cause accelerated aging of fabric. If direct contact occurs, clean promptly.Regular maintenance of your Phifertex fabric will ensure an extended life of the fabric. We recommend cleaning the fabric once or twice yearly for moderate use, more for heavy-use applications.
