Straightening Piping Cord for Easier Sewing When foam piping cord is stored and or shipped it develops sharp bends and curves that make it difficult to sew. A little trick is to soak the piping cord in hot water for about 15 to 30 seconds then immediately remove the cording straightening it out as it is removed from the hot water.
