Swedish Snap #2 Wire to 7/16" is a jib hank forged from marine quality brass and fitted with a stainless steel spring that is used to secure jibs to the wire forestay. Bends into place and locks positively over the stay with a sliding piston that closes a hooked end. In the case of Swedish Snaps, installation requires the placement of a pressed spur grommet (usually a #2 size) just behind the luff reinforcement in the sail. The long arm of the snap is bent into place. This should be done gradually to prevent breakage--a leather mallet and many blows works well. Clear plastic inserts are used to reduce wear on the sail. Inserts sold seperately.
