Founded in 1934 by Tadao Yoshida, the YKK Corporation is a Japanese group of manufacturing companies. YKK manufactures fastening products, windows and doors, plastic hardware and production machinery, but it’s most well-known for making the world’s best zippers. In fact, they are the world’s largest zipper manufacturer, producing over 7 billion zippers each year. The reliability of YKK zippers is why it is the only brand of zippers and zipper finishing items we stock at Sailrite.
Known for their quality, YKK zippers won’t experience broken teeth, lockups, or broken pull tabs. A YKK zipper is built to last, and you can feel confident adding one to your DIY project. YKK stakes its reputation on well-made, dependable zippers that will not fail. YKK manufactures its own proprietary zipper-making machines, the technology and manufacturing of which is kept secret and guarded from competitors.
A Zipper for All Your Finishing Needs
Whether you need a zipper for a backstay slit in your bimini, a curved window opening in your dodger, or to close your duffle bag or camping tent, YKK — and Sailrite — has the right zipper for your DIY. Choose from our selection of finished or continuous zippers in either Coil or Vislon® styles offered in a range of colors to complement your sewing project. Not sure which zipper style you need? Be sure to reference our informative blog “Choosing the Right Zipper” to find the right match to your project.
In addition to finished zippers, YKK supplies zipper parts so you can customize your application with exactly what you need. Explore a variety of plastic and metal locking and non-locking zipper sliders in either single or double pull options. And don’t forget to add zipper stops to the end of your continuous zipper chain.
Webbing Accessories & Add-Ons
If you’re sewing a dog collar, the quality of the buckle fastener is just as important as the quality of the webbing. Don’t let substandard plastic parts ruin your project. YKK brand plastic hardware delivers the same quality and dependability that their zippers are known for.
YKK’s side release buckles are made to endure tough environments. You can use them in your marine and outdoor applications such as securing dodger frames, sail bags, life vests, attaching awnings and more. YKK uses heavy-duty polyacetal, a type of engineering thermoplastic that offers the best durability, hardness and dimensional stability on the market, as well as a high resistance to abrasion, friction and chemicals.
From buckles and snap hook swivels to tri-bar webbing sliders, D-rings and Loop Locs, YKK manufactures well-made, high-strength plastic hardware pieces to complete all your webbing projects. Sailrite carries a wide range of sizes and widths to accommodate the selection of webbing widths and thicknesses we sell.
YKK® SNAD® Fastener Studs
YKK SNAD fasteners are a great alternative to screw studs for those who don’t want to drill holes in their boat, RV or wherever you need snap fasteners installed. These adhesive-backed studs have a very strong hold due to the 3M™ VHB™ acrylic conformable foam adhesive tape located on the underside of the SNAD’s body. There are two types of SNAD studs: The domed stud is plastic and inflexible and works best on flat surfaces, and the flexible base stud has a silicone body and can wrap around contoured surfaces such as aluminum tubing.
YKK SNADs are recommended for glass, metal and fiberglass surfaces. Use them when installing window shades or screens on your boat, RV or a skylight in your home. They’re also useful for marine carpeting, cushions and seating, golf carts, bulkheads, or panels and console covers.
YKK Barrel Lock Cord Closures
Barrel Lock Cord Closures are used to securely close bags, hoods, luggage, backpacks, outdoor gear, tents, covers and more without having to tie the cords. The excellent holding power of YKK’s noncorrosive polyacetal plastic closures ensure your application won’t accidentally open or come undone. Sailrite stocks barrel lock closures in 5/32- and 3/16-inch sizes, as well as single- and double-cord styles.
