Groz-Beckert^® #22 Leather Sewing Machine Needles 135x16 Perpendicular Point (10 pack) are industrial leather needles that feature a round shank and a wide, flat cutting point. Use a perpendicular needle to sew light to heavy leathers.

The perpendicular needle is the only type of needle that doesn't follow conventional sizing rules. A perpendicular needle tip has to be larger than the tip of a standard needle of the same size because it cuts stitch holes that are wider than they are long. The holes run perpendicular to the sewing direction at a 90-degree angle, cutting a neat row of clean, close stitch holes.

Stitch holes from this specialty needle will be partially visible after sewing. The overall result is a recessed, decorative seam of left-slanted stitches — especially on thick or hard leather. For best results, sew very short stitches with a perpendicular needle.

As an added bonus, Groz-Beckert needles are free of burrs. Burrs can make it difficult to insert the needle into a sewing machine, as well as cause thread separation and skipped stitches. Once you start sewing with high-quality Groz-Beckert needles, you'll wonder how you ever went without them.
