How to Replace the Feed Dog on the Ultrafeed®

In this short Ultrafeed® maintenance video, we’re going to show you how to replace the feed dog on your Ultrafeed Sewing Machine. For the purpose of this video demonstration, we’ll be removing and reinstalling a feed dog on the Ultrafeed LSZ straight and zigzag stitch model, but the process is exactly the same for the LS straight stitch only model.

The process for removing your feed dog and installing a new one is very straightforward. In fact, the entire process should take no more than five minutes! You’ll need a flat head screwdriver with a fairly long shank in order to reach some of the harder-to-reach screws.

First, you’ll remove the side cover by loosening the two set screws; set the cover aside. Next, remove the presser foot for easier access to the feed dog. Remove the two screws holding the needle plate in place (these screws will need to be removed completely) and set the needle plate aside. After that, you will gain access to the feed dog beneath the needle plate. Remove the two screws and lift the damaged feed dog from the bracket that holds it in place.

Now you can install your new feed dog. Simply reverse the steps taken to remove the damaged feed dog to install your new one. It’s that easy! Make sure you’ve tightened all the screws appropriately.
