Description

Tape Dacron 5 oz. Folded White 2" is made from long strips of Dacron® cloth cut with the grain, so that there is very little stretch, and folded in half down the length of the tape. The convenient pre-fold makes this tape easier to use. This tape is not adhesive backed.

Dacron sail tape is used to finish the edges of sails, for reinforcement in the areas where fasteners are placed in canvas projects and to form sleeves into which boltrope can be drawn. Some sailmakers use two or three layers of tape in the place of boltrope. Extra strength can be achieved by using more than one ply.

Please Note: This tape is pre-folded in half. (Width is measured before folding).

Stiff stuff

Pretty stiff but works. Looks professional when attached.

I used this to finish the foot of a sail that I'd cut down to be a high-clew, heavy weather sail. Worked great.

Best edging ever!

I have used the folded Dacron tape for many of my projects over the years. I am always pleased with its versatility and it gives my projects a clean, stiff edge!

Nice material and fold - excess residual fibres needed removing

I bought 40 feet of this tape which arrived in a roll about 6 x 6 inches. The fold was sharp and the material was nice. I was surprised to see what looked like fraying all along both 40 feet edges. After a closer examination and a chat with Sailrite, the apparent fraying seemed to be just residual fibres after the edges were cut and sealed at manufacture. The excess fibres were easily removed by plucking along the edge. Customer support advised me to be careful not to get nasty "paper" cuts while doing this, hence plucking rather than just rubbing.
