Also known as a leather skiver, a French edger gauges, channels and skives leather quickly, easily and professionally. The flat channel portion of the tool head is designed to shave off a layer of leather before sewing two layers together. A French edger is also useful for thinning leather at a crease point when folding the leather together, such as at the bottom of a wallet, bottom of a credit card holder, or anywhere two layers of leather are folded together to create a pocket. A French edger can be used on any weight of leather. The size of tool corresponds with how much leather is shaved off — the smaller the size the less amount of leather is removed, and vice versa.
The contoured wooden handle makes this tool comfortable to hold while leatherworking. All Barry King edgers are crafted using heat-treated steel for optimum performance and longevity. Suitable for both right- and left-handed users. This is a professional-grade tool that will greatly improve the quality and beauty of your leatherwork.
