Rigid support struts are used to support dodger and bimini frames and can be used in place of traditional webbing straps. Using struts greatly increases the strength of the frame but does make knockdown of the frame more difficult. However, many cruisers find this to be a worthwhile trade-off.

This kit contains enough 7/8-inch 304 Stainless Steel tubing and hardware to build two rigid support struts.

Kit Includes:

  • Two (2) 3-foot pieces of 7/8" Grade 304 Stainless Steel Tubing
  • Four (4) 316 Stainless Steel Eye Ends
  • Two (2) 316 Stainless Steel Jaw Slides
  • Two (2) 316 Stainless Steel Flat Mount Plates (4 fastening screws not included)

How to Install a Rigid Support Strut

This rigid support strut is being used on a pontoon boat's bimini frame.

Installing Rigid Support Struts on a Dodger

This video shows using rigid supports on a dodger. We substituted the standard flat mount plate with the Quick Release Flat Mount Plate (item #103051), so a quick release pin could be used. Now the struts can be released quickly. NOTE: Quick release hardware #103051 and #103053 is not included in this kit.
