If you need to add a protective flooring mat to an area on your boat, why not make your own? In this quick video, we’re going to show you how to measure and pattern a piece of marine flooring for the recessed galley in a yacht. This is an incredibly easy project that requires just a few supplies and no sewing. This is a great way to install a comfortable, protective mat on your boat that is custom fit to your exact flooring dimensions. Don't settle for mass-produced flooring mats that don't fit right when it's so easy to make your own. Let's get started.

We’ve chosen Infinity Luxury Woven Vinyl™ flooring material for our floor mat. Infinity flooring is a 100% woven vinyl with a 100% frothed vinyl memory backing. It creates a soft, cool foundation for your feet and allows for added traction. Its unique frothed vinyl backing does not soak up as much water as other foam flooring, making it a great choice for powerboats, pontoons, sailboats and more. It dries quickly, stands up to heavy traffic, and it can be cut with scissors without needing a binding to finish the edges.

In our video, we'll show you how to measure your space and how to pattern and cut the flooring material. Our galley has a curved section at the step that we needed to accommodate for. We’ll show you a great trick for patterning around curved areas using a simple kitchen supply you already have. In fact, other than the vinyl flooring material, you probably already have most of the supplies needed to make this easy, no-sew flooring project.

Not only is this a great flooring option for your boat, but you can also use these same techniques to create a no-sew mat for your RV, sunroom, kitchen or anywhere you need a cushioned and supportive floor mat. Save any leftover Infinity vinyl flooring for other projects. It can also be used for RV treads, swim platforms, placemats, coasters and more.
