Give your outdated dining room chairs a much-needed makeover. Have you ever wanted to sew slipcovers for your old armless dining chairs? Now you can with the Sailrite® Parsons Chair Slipcover Kit. This kit comes with the notions and patterning template you need to make custom slipcovers. All you need to do is choose your favorite upholstery fabric from our overstocked shelves and get started on this fun and easy sewing project.

First created in the 1930s at the Parsons School of Design in Paris, France, the chair features a simple design and sleek lines. It quickly became a very popular dining chair style, and today you can find parsons chairs in homes all over the world. If you have a set of parsons chairs that you'd like to update, you can easily sew custom slipcovers without having to replace your chairs.

This is a great beginner sewing project. It requires just a few materials and supplies, and the video will teach you some important sewing skills you'll be able to apply to future sewing DIYs. Here are just a few of the techniques and skills you'll learn during the course of our video tutorial:

  • How to nest and cut patterns.
  • How to sew skirt panels together.
  • How to sew pleats.
  • How to hem fabric and create fabric ties.

With this slipcover kit, you get to pick the fabric you want. Just add your upholstery fabric of choice to your cart when ordering the kit. Five yards of a 54-inch fabric makes two slipcovers. In our tutorial video, we used Magnolia Home Fabric. It's an economical upholstery fabric that's easy to clean and comes in a wide variety of colors and patterns to fit any home and any style.

Our Parsons Chair Slipcover Kit is designed to fit all parsons chairs and other armless dining room chairs in the following dimensions ranges:
