How to Sew a Pocket With a Zipper

Zippered pockets are found on clothing, accessories, and especially on the inside and outside of bags, totes, and duffles. In today’s quick Tips & Tricks video, we’ll show you how to create a zippered pocket. This sewing technique produces a clean, professional finish with the pocket hidden between the bag’s lining and exterior fabric layers. Let’s get into it.

For our mock-up zipper pocket, we're using a drapery lining material to mimic the inside lining of a bag. For our exterior fabric, we chose a Crypton® upholstery fabric. You can use any spare fabric scraps you have for your practice piece.
