What Is the Posi-Pin & Why Does It Matter?
The Posi-Pin Safety Shear, patented by Sailrite owner Matt Grant, was created to solve a frustrating problem: friction clutches that slip and sap your machine’s power. The Posi-Pin is Sailrite’s patented alternative to those outdated systems — and it’s only available on Sailrite machines.
But the Posi-Pin isn’t just about better performance. It’s a built-in safety feature that protects your Ultrafeed’s internal components when something goes wrong while sewing — like if you accidentally hit a metal snap, zipper or grommet.
How Does the Posi-Pin Work?
Think of it as a sacrificial safety pin for your machine. When you crash into something you shouldn’t while sewing, the Posi-Pin will snap at its shear point, stopping your Ultrafeed immediately. This prevents more serious damage inside your machine.
When this happens:
- The machine stops operating to prevent further harm.
- Simply remove the broken Posi-Pin and replace it with a new one.
- Check the cap spring for damage and replace the needle.
- You’re ready to start sewing again — no tuning or retiming required.
