Cushion Underlining Black 54" Fabric
Black Cushion Underlining is a lightweight vinyl-coated polyester fabric designed for use on the bottom side of home, patio, RV and marine cushions, seats and upholstery. The light vinyl coating keeps cushions from slipping and allows for water drainage and air circulation. Cushion underlining breathes and resists rot and mildew growth.
- Prepare cleaning solution using 1 tablespoon liquid dish detergent and 2 tablespoons household bleach in 1 gallon of water. Clean fabric with a sponge or soft cloth dipped in solution.
- Rinse thoroughly with clear water and air dry.
- Avoid direct contact with oil-based products which may cause accelerated aging of fabric. If direct contact occurs, clean promptly.
- Regular maintenance of your fabric will help extend the life. Clean 1-2 times a year when in moderate use (more frequently when used heavily).

Good underlining material that allows moisture to escape

I ordered 11 yards of this material. I’m using it to redo the cushions on the my 1990 Catalina 30. The cushion fabric I’m using is Sunbrella (Mediterranean Blue) and my zippers and underlining material are all black. My hope is the dark color will hide dirt. My ordered arrived spooled around a cardboard tool which makes it easy to roll out as needed. It cuts very easily with scissors. The edges of the material does not fray so you do not need to use a hot knife. The material is very porous and should allow water to easily escape the cushion cover. If you choose this underlining material just remember that your cushions will not be reversible. I imagine (at least on sailboats) that since most cushions are directional (i.e. the shapes and contours prevent a flipped cushion from fitting) so not having a reversible cushion is not an issue.
Excellent and durable fabric.

This is my second review for this item, as I would like to provide additional information. I had previously purchased 11yds of this material for my cushion project on my Catalina 30. Unfortunately I was a bit short in my original measurements and I had to buy an additional 2yds. I was very please to find that even though I ordered such a small amount of fabric Sailrite packaged and shipped the product the right way. I was worried Sailrite would fold the material which would create a crease- in order to save on shipping costs. To my delight it arrived wound on a cardboard spool. The material itself is, as I described in my other review, excellent. It's easy to cut, does not fray, is fairly strong, and allows water to pass through.
