Softouch® Fabric is a great water-resistant cover fabric featuring a soft, non-abrasive backing that provides superior protection. A special non-woven backer, similar to felt, is laminated to Odyssey, an acrylic-coated polyester fabric, to create Softouch: a fabric with strength, dimensional stability, high abrasion resistance and an incredibly soft backing. Its high UV and mildew resistance ensures protection against harsh outdoor and marine environments.
Softouch is perfect for safeguarding your possessions from the outside elements while preventing scratches on any painted, gel coated, or other delicate surfaces, such as vinyl windows, on the underside. There is a right and a wrong side to this fabric, meaning that only the woven polyester side should be exposed to the outside and the fuzzy underside should always be facing the inside. Softouch is perfect for various types of outdoor and marine covers where protection both inside and out is a must, including cockpits, automobiles, patio furniture, grills, aircraft, wooden boats and so much more!
Care & Cleaning: Accumulation of dirt and droppings can support the growth of mildew and mold, as well as result in fabric staining, and should be removed periodically. The fabric may be cleaned with a solution of 4 ounces of bleach and 2 ounces of mild soap mixed in one gallon of warm water. Do NOT use detergents. For soil embedded in the fabric surface, use a soft bristled brush to loosen and lift. Rinse thoroughly with clear water to remove soil and soap residue.
Please Note: To avoid growth of mildew, do not fold and store this fabric while wet. After a thorough cleaning and drying, water repellency may be reduced. This can be improved through an application of AquaTite® Green.

This is great fabric. A bit bulkier than I had anticipated but the soft layer is thick and durable. I sewed a full cabin cover for my experimental airplane and it exceeded my expectations.
I used this material to make an aircraft cover. The material was easy to work with. It provided one side to protect from rain and sun and provided another soft side to protect the paint and the windshield of the plane.
Great for aircraft cover!
I used Softouch to build a cover for my 1979 Piper Archer. The underside is a nice soft material that is easy on the paint and the windows. The exterior seems to be very resistant to UV and is quite durable. I used some of the excess to cover my truck seat, and it wears well. The fabric is a bit heavier than the cheaper stuff commercial cover makers use. I found that to be a good thing. It doesn't flap in the wind, or rub on the surface. It stays put! But, it's still light enough to fold up easily and store in the baggage area without taking up a lot of space. The fabric was a little stiff and will not crease. So, as a novice, I found it a little hard to work with at first. Soap stone and chalk won't mark on the exterior. But, if you use a sharpee, you'll never get it off! So, mark only on the fuzzy side, with a colored chalk. I was reluctant to use markers on the underside because I didn't wan't anything to transfer to my paint! All in all, this is great stuff! I'd use it again in a heartbeat! If want to protect your paint, this is the product!
