This is a double-sided Mylar/Kevlar^® basting tape that is specially designed to hold film-on-film laminates and monofilm together and reinforce sewn seams. This acrylic adhesive has a cloth matrix (taffeta Dacron) that reinforces/stabilizes the stitches to prevent them from cutting the material.

Basting Tape Sewing Tips:

Basting tapes are left permanently in place. You should sew over this tape. But because the adhesive is so aggressive, sewing can result in skipped stitches. Resolve with frequent needle cleaning. Intermittently clean the needle with rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab or an adhesive remover. Running your needle through a bar of Ivory soap can also prevent buildup.
