Make your boating life a little simpler with a DIY easy grab dock line. In this how-to video, we’ll walk you through how to measure your piling, cut your Boat Blanket material to size, and attach the Polyester Hook. Just wrap the Boat Blanket around your piling and let the hook do the work for you! No more hard-to-reach dock lines, no more telescoping boat hooks. Let’s get started!
Our black Boat Blanket material is perfect for this marine project: UV and chemical resistant, colorfast to withstand weather, and resistant to mold and mildew. There’s a right and wrong side to this marine fabric. The soft, fluffy side acts like the loop for the Polyester Black Hook strips we’re sewing to the back side. That way, when you wrap the fabric around the piling, the two sides meet and stick together tightly.
Here at Sailrite®, we offer several sizes of Polyester Black Hook — the scratchy side of a hook-and-loop closure system. For this project we’ve chosen to use a 2-inch width for maximum attachment surface. We’ve chosen polyester hook for our Easy Grab Dock Line because it’s more durable and weather-resistant, making it better for outdoor projects than its nylon cousin.
