After frequent use, the hole cutters in your Sailrite® Drill Hole Cutter Set may become slightly dull and not cut as sharply as before. This is completely normal, and it’s a very simple process to sharpen your drill hole cutters. Watch our short video to see how easy it is to restore your drill hole cutters to their original sharpness. It only takes a few minutes.

To sharpen your hole cutter set, you need a drill and a Dremel tool. For hole cutters that are 1/2 inch and larger, you'll use a 1/4-inch sanding band to sharpen them. Place the hole cutter in the drill and then use the Dremel tool with a sanding band to sharpen the inside edge of the hole cutter. The bevel is on the inside of each hole cutter, so that is why the Dremel tool needs to sharpen from inside the hole cutter. Watch the video to see the angle at which you should hold the Dremel tool to achieve a precise, sharp edge.

For hole cutter sizes smaller than 1/2 inch, we've found that an engraving bit works best. Again, the video will show you how to hold the Dremel tool inside the drill bit at the correct angle to sharpen the drill hole cutter to perfection.

The last step is to polish the outside of your hole cutter with emery cloth. Sometimes the sharpening process can create burrs on the outside edge of the hole cutter. A quick polish with emery cloth takes care of that.

The Sailrite Drill Hole Cutter Set is the fastest and most convenient way to cut holes in fabric, leather, webbing and more. Traditional hole cutters require a large hammer or mallet and a hard sacrificial surface to punch the hole through the fabric. With the Sailrite Drill Hole Cutter Set, all you need is a drill with a 3/8-inch drill chuck or larger. The set includes seven hole cutters in the following sizes: 1/8, 1/4, 5/16, 3/8, 7/16, 1/2 and 5/8 inch. Also included in the kit are the Sailrite® Cutting Block & Die Holder and a well-made carrying case to keep the hole cutters and cutting block safely stored so you don't lose any components.
