Have you ever wanted to learn how to sew your own cushion? Well, you’re in luck! This step-by-step video demonstration will teach you how to build a cushion from start to finish. Our video instructor will break it down into easy steps so that anyone — even a beginner — can learn how to sew a cushion. Join us!

This video class will walk you through all the steps involved in building your own outdoor cushion. First, we cover which foams are best for an outdoor cushion. CushionRite™ Dry Fast Antimicrobial Foam is a great foam for an outside cushion. The water will drain right through it, making it ideal for cockpit cushions and exposed patio furniture. It’s also mold and mildew resistant — another reason to choose Dry Fast for outdoor cushion applications.

Next comes choosing the fabric for your cushion. It’s a good idea to use a vinyl mesh material like Phifertex® on the bottom of the cushion so the water can drain through. You can use any fabric on the top and sides of the cushion; the water will be drained out the bottom of the cushion as long as you use Phifertex mesh vinyl on the bottom.

Once you have your foam and fabric pieces cut, the final steps are assembly and sewing. This video class will show you how to add a zipper plaque and piping to your cushion as well. Adding a zipper and piping makes for a great looking cushion that people will think came from a store.

After mastering this cushion sewing class, you’ll be able to tackle any DIY sewing project you can think of. This class will teach you sewing techniques and fundamentals that you’ll be able to incorporate into future sewing endeavors. Good luck on sewing an outdoor cushion. We hope this video has given you the confidence to tackle this and any sewing project!
