How to Reupholster a Chaise Lounge

Details
A chaise lounge, sometimes called a chaise longue, is a cozy and comfortable chair with an elongated cushion for stretching out. Because these chairs are oddly shaped, they may seem rather intimidating to reupholster. That doesn’t have to be the case with help from Sailrite®! Our comprehensive tutorial will walk you through the entire process of reupholstering a chaise lounge from start to finish. As part of our Chaise Lounge Revamp, you’ll learn how to pattern your chair, remove the old fabric and add new upholstery fabric. Let’s get started!
Our old chaise lounge was badly in need of some new upholstery fabric, and we chose to reupholster it using Crypton® Home Daria Eggshell. As a woven polyester blend, Daria Eggshell is a textured, indoor performance fabric with a plush, chenille-like feel. It’s soft and supple enough to make for an unbelievably cozy chair. Not only that, but all Crypton Home fabrics possess an exceptional resistance to stains, spills and odors, making them a perfect choice for any interior upholstery project. They truly stand up to the rigors of any living space! You can also order samples of these gorgeous fabrics on our site to decide which one will best suit your interior décor. And if you’d like to learn more about the amazing attributes of Crypton fabrics, check out our blog “Crypton Home Fabrics — What Is Crypton?” (300396XHT).
As you disassemble your chaise lounge, you’ll want to keep the old pieces to help you pattern the new pieces. Our chaise lounge also has a decorative skirt that we’ll be adding, but this is completely optional. When we reassemble the chair, adding this skirt is the last step in the process. If you decide that you do not want to add skirting to your chaise lounge, your reupholstery process will be slightly different but we’ll cover that in the video.
