3M™ General Trim Adhesive is a clear, high-strength spray adhesive designed for bonding lightweight headliners, fabrics, carpeting, and foam materials. Its nonstaining, non-yellowing formula dries clear and offers excellent heat and moisture resistance, making it ideal for marine, automotive, and upholstery applications. This adhesive is commonly used for adhering headliner material to bulkheads and bonding polyurethane, Dry Fast, and closed-cell foams to themselves.

The adhesive bonds lightweight carpeting, cloth-backed vinyl, foam-backed vinyl headliners, fabrics, and plastics to surfaces including wood, fiberglass, and metal. Good soak-in control helps minimize bleed-through for a cleaner finished appearance. Sailrite® has tested and approved 3M™ General Trim Adhesive for use with headliner materials under 20 oz./sq. yd., providing dependable performance for professional installations.

For coverage, one can will adhere approximately 1-1/2 yards of 72"-wide headliner or 3 yards of 54"-wide headliner.

Note: Not recommended for polyethylene, polypropylene, or polystyrene foam (EPS/Styrofoam).

Directions for Use:

• Clean bonding surfaces thoroughly using 3M™ Specialty Adhesive Remover to remove dust, dirt, oil, and contaminants before application.
• Remove cap and adjust nozzle to desired spray pattern using the guide printed inside the can rim.
• Shake can well before and periodically during use.
• Hold can 6"–12" from the surface and apply a light to moderate, even coat with overlapping passes.
• Apply adhesive to one or both surfaces as needed. Applying to both surfaces is recommended for maximum bond strength.
• For best results, apply multiple light coats rather than one heavy coat. Sailrite recommends two coats applied in opposite directions, with additional coats in recessed or contoured areas if needed.
• Allow adhesive to dry between coats and bond when tacky but not transferable to the skin (typically 1–15 minutes).
• Join surfaces using firm, even pressure.
• After use, invert can and spray until nozzle runs clear. Clean spray tip with turpentine if needed.
• Excess adhesive or overspray can be removed using 3M™ Specialty Adhesive Remover.
