Punch round and oval holes on the buckle end of leather belts and straps faster and more accurately with this HandyPress accessory. This tool punches four round holes for leather fasteners and one oval hole for a buckle. Its hinged base self-centers the belt or strap for easy alignment and consistent spacing.
It includes three sizes of punch bars and cutters for 1", 1.25", and 1.5" oval holes to accommodate different sizes and types of buckles. The hinged base fits straps from 5/8" to 2" wide, making it versatile enough for a variety of belt and bag projects. It pairs well with the HandyPress® Self-Centering 5-Hole Punch #126940, which punches the adjustment holes on the other end of the belt.

The tool comes with four 3.5mm (9/64") round punch tubes and is compatible with other sizes of punch tubes (sold separately) for use with larger fasteners, such as Chicago screws.

Assembly:

1. Locate the two silver positioning pins and thread them into the middle bar of the hinged base.
2. Select your desired punch bar size. With the punch bar on a flat surface, insert the corresponding oval cutter with the blade facing up. Tighten the four set screws evenly with a small flathead screwdriver. Repeat for the other two sizes.
3. Thread the four punch tubes into the holes on either side of the oval cutter. Repeat with the other punch bars as needed.

To Use:

1. With the HandyPress Workbench, Cutting Board, and Round Upper Press Plate installed, place your leather strap on top of the Cutting Board.
2. Place the punch base over the strap and adjust the hinged frame until it contacts the leather.
3. Slide the punch bar onto the base through the two positioning pins. Ensure all cutters pass through the center bar without contact. If the holes do not line up, rotate the punch bar 180 degrees and reinsert it.
4. Set the HandyPress compression as directed in the HandyPress guidebook.
5. Holding the strap in place, pull the handle down to punch through the leather. Since the punch bar is wider than the Cutting Board, shift the assembly over and depress the lever a second time to complete the cut.

Please Note: This tool is designed for use with the HandyPress and cannot be used with a maul or hammer. It may be compatible with other hand presses if the press plate fits between the positioning pins. Check the Dimensions tab to verify compatibility.
