Description

Sailrite® SnapRite® System is a unique new snap fastener system created by Matt Grant (Sailrite owner). The SnapRite System features a set of four dies that work with many standard rivet guns (we recommend the Professional Rivet Installation Tool, #103520) to install button, socket, stud and eyelet snap fastener components with more ease, speed and precision than ever before.

The color-coded dies work in pairs to install snap components on site for accurate positioning. The key to this system is the use of a SnapRite Mandrel and using snap components that have a hole down the center. The SnapRite System requires use of SnapRite Buttons and gypsy studs but installs all other standard snap components in a Line 24 size (most common size -button top is 5/8" diameter).

The SnapRite Dies work with most standard rivet guns (M8-1.25 threads). Dies screw into the rivet gun’s nosepiece and must be used with a SnapRite Mandrel (included). Position fasteners, punch the mandrel through the fabric assembly, and rivet the fasteners in place.

How the SnapRite® System Works

Female Components: The SnapRite Button Die and snap component are installed on the rivet gun’s nosepiece. The mating snap component is placed on the SnapRite Socket Die and a mandrel put through the center hole of the die. The rivet tool grabs onto the mandrel that has been pressed through the fabric, pulling the two SnapRite dies together and flaring the barrel of the button to create a tightly installed snap fastener. This completed assembly is the female button/socket. It can now be snapped to a surface mounted stud, or to a stud/eyelet male assembly.

Male Components: The SnapRite Stud Die and snap component are installed on the rivet gun's nosepiece. The mating snap component is placed on the SnapRite Eyelet Die and a mandrel put through the center hole of the die. The rivet tool grabs onto the mandrel that has been pressed through the fabric, pulling the two SnapRite dies together and flaring the barrel of the the Eyelet to create a tightly installed snap fastener. This completed assembly is the male stud/eyelet. It can now be snapped to a button/socket female assembly.

Snap Stacking: The middle layer, for instance when snapping canvas to a hard surface and then snapping another layer of canvas to the same location, requires the pairing of the socket die with a stud die. The special snap fastener gypsy stud then replaces the button part in the steps above under "Female Components".

For female snap positioning to existing surface mounted studs: Follow the Female Components operation above but only after the mandrel has been passed through the socket die, and the die has been snapped over the surface mounted stud. In effect, the button/socket assembly will then be completed directly inline with the stud. This creates a perfect fit and this "positioning" can be done snap-by-snap.

SnapRite System Includes:

Please Note: The Stud Die that comes in this kit is only intended to install cloth-to-cloth fasteners. Using the Stud Die to install surface studs will break the die. To install surface studs, use the Surface Mount Stud Die #103754 (sold separately).

Compatibility Requirement: This Button Die is only compatible with buttons that have a hole in the cap. The hole is necessary to accommodate the die's mandrel.
