How to Make a Stadium Cushion (PDF)
Do you go to a lot of sporting events? Whether you are an avid high school, college or pro sports fan and go to a lot of games, every stadium has the same hard metal benches or uncomfortable plastic seats. Even little league baseball stadiums are filled with old wooden risers. You want to enjoy the game and not be thinking about how uncomfortable the seats are, right? Well, you're in luck. We have downloadable PDF instructions teaching you how to sew your own stadium cushion.
A stadium cushion is typically a square cushion with rounded corners. It's filled with a piece of foam and the fabric is usually a vinyl of some kind. The vinyl keeps the cushion waterproof and easy to clean as messes wipe up effortlessly. Our downloadable instructions include the list of materials you'll need to complete this cushion DIY. In addition to the foam, vinyl, welting cord, zipper and thread, you'll also need basic sewing supplies like scissors, a ruler and a sewing machine.
For our stadium cushion, we're adding a zipper plaque to the boxing on one side of the cushion. Adding a zipper will allow us to remove the foam from the cushion cover in case the foam needs replaced after years of use. We recommend using open cell Dry Fast foam or antimicrobial polyurethane foam. In the PDF instructions, you'll learn how to cut your vinyl cushion plates, how to prepare the zipper plaque, how to sew the welting to the plates to create piping, how to sew the boxing and zipper plaque to the plates, and, finally, how to sew the plates in place and insert the foam.
What's great about this downloadable and printable PDF is that you can print off the instructions and take them anywhere. You don't need your computer or tablet with you in your sewing room in order to complete this project. Download the instructions by clicking the green "Download" button below.
