Gingher® Thread Nippers are sharp, knife-edge thread nippers for snipping threads and heavier yarn, as well as quick cuts through thick fabrics. These nippers have a spring-action design that opens the blades after each cut to reduce hand fatigue. The blades are precision ground with a knife edge. Gingher Thread Nippers are hot drop forged and fully chrome plated.

To Use: Place your middle finger through the loop with your index finger under the snip. Use the index finger and thumb to make the clipping action.

Care Recommendations: Occasionally placing a drop of oil in the pivot area will facilitate a smooth cutting action. The inside surfaces of the blades should be wiped frequently with a dry cloth to remove accumulated lint.

I haven't had the nippers more then a few days, but I know they will be around a long time. They work great, nipping the shorts piece of thread cleanly. What is nice is that they can stay in you hand with your ring or middle finger thought the loop and still use your hand fully for sewing with the nippers ready when you need them.

Good quality, very sharp. I ripped through sunbrella smoothly. good feel in a hand.

end of the blades if I want to cut with the whole blade (example a buttonhole) the folded fabric

Very good for cutting the threads and making notches but you have to cut only with the tip of the blades if I want to cut with the entire blade the folded fabric. As I wanted a good thread cut I'm satisfied!

Should have bought ages ago

As has repeatedly been the case with the tools I've bought from Sailrite, I regret not buying this much earlier. I had been using a Fiskars version of thread snips that seemed decent enough, and figured the Gingher version was just a prettier version.

I was completely wrong. These are so incredibly sharp, much sharper than the cheap alternative I had. Before I would often need to squeeze several times or use a specific part of the blade, but with these it's a perfect cut everytime anywhere on the blade on any kind of thread. Plus, the blades come apart easily should be simple to sharpen if they ever do start to dull -- again, something the cheaper counterpart lacked. The spring mechanism is clean and crisp, it's thin and easy to hold onto while sewing, and it is indeed quite cool looking. Spend the money, you won't regret it.
